Don't give up hope on riding the " Ski Train " just yet. The is a move a foot to bring a new " Ski Train" back to running from Denver to Winter Park. See this article from the Denver Post newspaper . http://www.denverpost.com/ci_12993517.
The govenor is puttting his support behind this proposal and it may just happen. Union Pacific has indicated that it could be done.

You have done a wonderful job on recreating the " Golden years " . I lived in Granby , Colordo and saw the Ski Train and CZ train many times.

Charles M

Thanks Charles, it is constant battle with the British weather whilst trying to create Colorado in Essex let alone the lack of mountains! Luckily this year has been a particularly dry summer so some parts of the line do sort of resemble the dry plains. Heavy pruning on the trees has been done as, although they are dwarf varieties, they still grow tooooooo fast!

Do you have any photos of the real CZ or Ski ?

If the 'replacement Ski Train' is introduced it would be good for all of those skiers as it would take the load of the roads in winter and also for the Denver dwellers to get to the park in summer. It is also good to hear that there is a lobby behind it but it still will not have the same kudos as the original somehow...........
Have heard that power may be SL&RG SD40-2 with HEP car....although SL&RG have various ol dogs.
it may look something like this

............but, if as Spike posted, the SL&RG become involved and the train is dressed up in the same livery as the recent Ski Train and pulled by some half decent power, well things might not be too bad. :D :D

The train is longer than the garden is wide :D

Original track plan with it's curves was to small for this train but managed to secure the rights to the whole
back garden :D
Trying to force a minimum 10foot diameter with mainly 16 foot diameter was a real nightmare.
It's a bit of a mish mash as I had to negotiate various objects that were'nt possible to remove for the time
being......ie that large square metal thing is my hamradio mast with a ton of concrete underneath it.

Would love to get mine looking like yours.......something to aim for in the near future.
