GOT MILK ?

It's been quite some time since I last worked on my milk transport car. Of late, I have had plenty of time to tinker in my shop. That's tinker not tinkle. I do that somewhere else. I've always been attracted to Lionel's action rolling stock and operating trackside accessories.

My milk transport car needed a roof and some painting, which is only partly finished. I have to letter the car and give it a coat of sealer.

neat Dan I guess any of those old Lionel accessories can be modified to G if you apply yourself.

Fascinating. I was trying to think of what it reminded me then realised it's a bit like the TPO pickup mechanism in reverse - though much more sophisticated.

What I should have done was withdraw the platform. I made it moveable so as to let trains pass.

None of it is Lionel. If I get some time tomorrow, I'll take some interior shots of the mechanism. Wallace is moved via Buhler motor. The milk cans are hidden in a sort of corridor with a spring that pushes them into the waiting hands of Wallace.

Photo 11 -Wallace himself.  His motion motor is just behind him.  The clear piece of plastic catches the milk can between itself and Wallace’s foot.
