Gas fired 'Robert'

For those visiting the 16mm show this weekend, Paul Bailey of DJB Model Engineering Ltd (stand no. 61) will have a new gas fired version of his popular 'Robert' loco on display. Please form an orderly queue!

It is good to see them making locos other than coal fired again. I guess with the big Accucraft and Roundhouse price rises they can now compete.

Are the side tanks functional and with an axle pump?

The etchings are the same ones as used on the coal fired version ... so yes, you can make the tanks hold water and I guess you could fit an axle pump ... but why? The gas tank will run out before the water in the boiler ... normal practice on gas fired models.

I saw the vent pipe on one tank, and the toolbox for the fill cover.
