There are five of us in the south of Sydney who get together regularly at each others? places to run our trains. We?re not a ?club? just a group of like minded train nuts. We are all battery powered (the trains that is!)
So I thought I?d start a thread here to show pictures and videos of our run days. (This will be in addition to the days when we run here at my Sandstone and Termite.)

We also have a website where you can glean a little of each of our layouts:
Website: http://www.trainweb.org/grass/index.htm

Wed 18/7/12 was a beaut sunny winter?s day here, so we gathered at Keith?s to run on his Bottle Creek Tramway. Pat provided us with a gourmet lunch before we ?waddled? out to run trains.
You can a see a plan of his line on the website above.

Keith has a couple of Hebel viaducts that are always a good photo stop. Here?s Bryan?s American diesel.

Bryan also had this little train, with two AAA cells. Keith?s model of a NSW 79 class is in the background.

Geof had his very dirty Queensland D16 tank loco running. It?s built on a Bachmann Big Hauler.

Keith?s NSW 40 class diesel and my red Garratt are at Vale station.

O yes love the pictures from down under, there seems to be a bright light in the pictures, people tell me it used to be called the sun. We don't get it any more here in the uk.

Sorry the SUN has been banned from England during the Olympics. It would draw attention away from the games and the advertising.....

Now Greg presumably as you reside in the SHIRE we wont see you in "THE SHIRE". You don't get a gurnsey to appear in "THE SHIRE" unless you live in Marickville, have huge bazzookas and the IQ of a vegemite sandwich.....

The railways look fantastic only one minor point if I may, no G scale model of the old Como Bridge..... You guys seem to have mastered working with Hebel, I was kind of amazed you actually turned some up in a lathe for the water tower base, I'm not so game, though I'm thinking of cutting some up into individual blocks to make stone things from.....

A few more pictures from the latest running day held at my Sandstone and Termite.

Geof has kitbashed an LGB 0-6-2 into a more Australian looking loco. Even the driver has got a broadbrimmed hat!
You can see more of Geof's work on his website: http://www.trainweb.org/btr/index.h...46/e39efa3aa4cd46e0bec8998b76993608.jpg[/IMG]

Some great shots Greg - and the viaduct is wonderful:thumbup:

very very impressive, some tallent on show:thumbup:

Fascinating stuff from the other side of the world. More please both from Downunder and elsewhere outside the UK & Ireland!

Excellent shots Greg. There is a lovely feel to layouts with scratchbuilt or kitbashed gear trundling around.

The last day of 2012 was hot and sunny so we gathered for a morning run to beat the heat. (you guys can have your snow and rain, I just have to be careful not to put my hand on the rails whilst reaching across to uncouple. To do so leaves 2 red 'burns' spaced 45mm apart across my palm)
Five of us made it but Bryan left early before I got my camera out, so his loco doesn't feature here.
The bright sun and deep shade don't give good pics, but here's a few of the better ones...

Mark's USA Trains F3 painted in Commonwealth Railways maroon posing on Lilyvale viaduct, has Hobbyking RC and Talking Electronics sound.

My similar unit unpainted, waits at Sandstone. Hobbyking RC, 3000mAh LiPo battery and TE sound modified to reduce volume when not powering.

Geof's LGB bash takes water at Ti-tree. The MyLocoSound is fantastic.

Greg as always great pic's.
I have been admiring your railway over the last few years of posts & was wondering where in Sydney you were.
My daughter is just about to move into Sylvania anywhere near you?
Do ANY of you have track power? I have a Ffestiniog Double Fairlie LGB/GRS that would love a day out in the Shire.
But as we travel a lot & my line in Poole (UK) gets neglected for long periods I am also keen to see some battery power in the flesh.

John
My wife & I are off to the Jazz Weekend in Napier next month. Any interesting old lines in that area that would be worth a side trip.

Sylvania is only about 5 miles from us. Geof and Mark have track power. I have small lengths where track power MAY still work - we could try. Send me a PM if you're in Sydney now.
