I am in the process of building a turntable and I now need to fit it with some rails. I do not want to simply lay a suitable piece(s) of track but would rather be more prototypical and use two lengths of rail and suitable rail fastenings to anchor them to the turntable. I use LGB/Aristocraft track which I think is Code 332 and I would like to stick with that for the turntable. Can anyone advise me on what to use and where to get it? The turntable is sized for my Annie and hence is 690mm long.

What s the bed of the turntable (that you are fixing the rails to) made of?
How thick is it?

I would drill holes for brass pins (with the heads bent over) and possible glue the pin-shanks for extra hold??
 
Is the Annie battery powered? Just thinking of metal on metal. If you run track power put some timber under each rail.

Yes I need to insulate for 22V DCC power so I need some sort of plastic rail fastenings similar to the Peco variety which are not suitable.

AH! I was just about to suggest soldering them to the galv tray.
 
Once you have your insulation of rail to steel bed figured out, you could make three pieces of walkway from plastic or wood. Without showing you a sketch of what I have in mind, it's difficult to describe, but I'll do my best. Picture the rail with it's wide bottom flange. Now picture a street railway. The street adjacent to the rails has an indentation along the rail. But the paving is right up against the bottom of the rail. So you could fasten the plastic walkway down to the steel bed. That would put pressure on the bottom flange of the rail, thus holding it in place and not compromising the electrical separation of rail to bed.
 
I stand to be corrected but I don't think you can buy the rail chairs for LGB or ART code 332 track, as you can with Peco?

I would cut up a few sleepers and try to disguise them under a walkway of wood or better still, a UVA/UVB stable plastic....
 
A quick google actually refers back to an old thread on here:

... which seems to be saying Tenmille do chairs for their code 332 track (slightly different profile though), or possibly Thiel do chairs?

Maybe an option would be to purchase some Tenmille rail and their matching chairs?
 
Don't GRS make their own turnouts with LGB rail - what do they use? May be worth asking them?
 
I guess if you used Tenmille rail part number GS13 (£9), with their Chairs GS14A (5.25), then that would suffice?

You would have to drill 3mm holes in the cable tray and fix in place with something like expoxy I reckon....

Another option would be Copper Clad Sleeper Strip. This is available in a size that is suitable for G from Markway at Sheffield. You could then Solder Rail to the Sleeper Strip, pin or Bolt with BA size Brass Bolts ti the Bed. With Suitable Insulation Cuts you will have no problems of Shorting.
