Free Bridge from Mr IKEA

Just happened to be at Ambleside on Sat night and came across this. The IKEA bridge would fit perfectly. 1 up and 32 down??
In the centre of the second pic (the black line in the form of a bow) you can see the tide (bore) coming in.
Both fascinating & frightening. The sign on fence says it all.

Your right Neil. Don't think Ambleside has a tide, being on a Lake
...which lets face it, it can do in the lakes!Back OT for a moment - Mr IKEA's components do look useful, but no doubt you have to buy a Swedish pine summat or other to get one!
Ahh, Arnside, happy memories of the holiday flat above the bakers, the smell of fresh bread and trains rumbling over the viaduct every morning.
Goigt back a few year earlier I remember going over the viaduct on a steam special hauled by Leander, sort of mesmorised by the lumps of coal falling onto the viaduct from an over full tender.
Strange what we remember!

Excellent chip shop there too. I used to go flounder fishing at Arnside until I decided that I didn't like my flounders lighting up with the radioactivity from Windscale.:-.

Shortly after I went over it behind SNG which took a loop connection to avoid Barrow, at one point we were almost running through the back gardens of houses!.
It is a glorious run along the tidal salt meadows and well away from the road.
There was a run with Flying Scotsman double heading with Mayflower about the same time, that was when Mayflower was shedded at Steamtown. It seems light years ago.......

It was from the tables outside the front of the Albion at Arnside, whilst waiting for a fantastic dinner in the dinning room, and yes the trains rumbling across the bridge in the half light were very very emotive.
Although the stock was modern the sound seemed very yesteryear.
The Albion was the home of a coastal shipping family who's trade was taken by the NEW railway, so they cashed in on the advent of holiday trains.
I would love a trip in the half light, it didn't occur at the time, we were totally mesmerised by the view from the pub.

I have a memory of going to Barrow on a trip with Green Arrow that way - after an earlier leg with SNG - 197?????3/4?????
