Fitting new traction tyres to my yellow Playmobil diesel.

My fingers are too large to fit new traction tyres to my Playmobil yellow diesel.
I think dropping the chassis might work but is it usual to do this, please?
Thank you

Hello Sarah,

Not familiar with the Playmobil diesel but if the tyres are same or similar to the LGB 0-4-0 chassis blocks I found a small pair of bent nose tweezers were the best tool.1677937950888.png1677937950888.png

The Playmobil part number is 30 80 3460.

I've had the ones I've just fitted for some time and I think they came from the UK. However, it may be future requirements may have to come from France.

Don’t suppose anyone knows if these are still available anywhere, or if there is any sort of suitable substitute

Thanks

A suitable sized O ring should work, there is a good deep grove in the wheel. Certainly pretty sure LGB ones would be to wide.

I got 10 x 37.5mm LGB tyres from Scottish garden railways for £21.00 ( you could ask for less) see his website for contact details. you will need to undo the 4 screws to detach the chassis from the frames in order to fit the new tyres. But take care not to tug the wiring!

Was a suggestion elsewhere that these might be too wide

Presumably you think they are ok?

Hi Chdot, I have some Playmobil traction tyres from the steam outline locos and I'll gladly send you one to try if you message me with your details.

If it helps anyone, I phoned Playmobil's UK customer service today. Although the spare parts website lists these tyres as unavailable, I was told by the very helpful woman I spoke to that they have them in stock. No longer manufactured, but they have a decent number available, apparently, and have posted me some.

However, unfortunately, these have arrived and they're not what I expected. I've received rings with rounded edges everywhere, whereas I expected something more like a rubber band in profile. Has anyone else experienced this? They claim to be 30803460 parts, but I really would have expected a different profile. Once fitted to a locomotive, these sit too large, it rocks, and easily falls off the track on curves.
