That's a German version of Bachmann's GE 45 Tonne switcher - both humungous machines, but then both were standard gauge locos adpated for narrow gauge.

It looks as if it's going to be pretty smart, though :D

That really is a stonking loco. Think I'd like to see it on an R1 curve before plunging into my wallet though.....

Blow that plunge in for the R3 curves too. I was expecting a very squashed compromise but that looks the part.

when? :D

Nice looking loco from Piko  Just looks as if it should be larger than that

Mmmmm even bigger. At least it captures the cab above the roof look, I was expecting something more like the LGB V52 in size so I'll live with this quite happily.

Comparing model pic to the one of the real thing. It looks pretty well on the button to me, the bonnets being just above the coaches in both pictures. Trouble is it WILL NOT FIT MY loading gauge. However as I am expecting to move to a better (bigger) garden railway within the next year or two, well I may just be tempted!

Never mind will it go round the curves, is the track foundation going to take the weight?
Who said size doesn't matter?

If I am wrong about the size and I could be as I have been known to be wrong in the past. Then I think that it will be a fair compromise for the general Harz line modeler. I guess there is a limit on what you can expect to build in terms of Tunnel Sizes etc. But wow I thought that they were big when I saw them in the mountains, but how they do not tip over I will never know. Perhaps some have? I know that they have gone out of favour with the HSB other than for what I call the "Farnham Tip" type jobs. It was the Farnham Tip jobs that Guildford shed would only ever use 77014 when sent to them in the back end of steam at Guildford shed. It was apparently hated there by the regular drivers. These days the camels appear to be mostly used on Ballast, Snow Plough and Emergancy duties from what I can gather.

How long before someone produces the 64mm gauge bogies to convert it back to standard-gauge?

Looks great, and big enough - just. and its on 6 axles - I did wonder. LTFan, they are doing the standard gauge version as well - on 45mm track - but we guess using the same body moulding!. The standard gauge original is on 4 axles.

Hi Everyone,
I have always considered myself something of a diesel fan , but is this the ugliest locomotive ever built ? I don't like it , & will obviously not be buying one YUK !
( It makes the rolling stock look bad too )

I would say there's something about it's boxyness that makes it really nice

Is the model that Markus posted pictures of a KISS model? Saw one of these on the Harz layout at Warley and it's even nicer in real life

....that looks very promising....think that the only clearance problem on my line would be the LGB girder bridge....just measured and there is 60mm clearance between the top of the roof of the Harz coach and the lowest cross girders on the LGB bridge....as long as the Harz Kamel does not exceed the height of a USA Trains DoubleStack Container (which just goes through the LGB bridge) I think we are on to a winner.

...methinks a pre-order will be going to Harvey at The Hobby Shop, Faversham...

Many thanks Willem for posting the original pics:clap:
