Many months ago (in April/ May/ June I posted some pictures of four L&B Howard bogie vans I had completed (less painting). We had a particularily miserable winter here and generally it was too wet to paint them. I passed them over to my mate, who is the painter/ decaller. Payment was one of them for him. Well they are back- we are having a scorching summer and he has been getting into them. I think it was worth the wait. Actually I am stoked but won't admit it to him as he will increase the charges. :):)

Sorry to add to this. They have been built from my famous scribed basswood sheeting. Built on a thin ply box frame with a thick six ply base. The bogie chassis is a Bachmann wagon frame extended with standard bogies but 24.5mm wheel sets installed. All detailing is from GRS packs and Brandbright L&B set. The roofs were made from laminated cardboard (not so sucessful) but a good starting block.

Lovely wagons and what a smashing looking place in which to run them. I'd forgotten that the sky could be blue...

I have posted pictures of both types of bogies- Accucraft and Bachmann. At the end of the day a novice would not know the difference between the two and on a moving wagon neither would anyone else I think. They both sit ok on Bachmann underframes. Attached find pictures of the underside views.

Goofed that one they are both Accucraft ones. Also are some pictures of a very ficticious directors car for the L&B. Made on a LBG Ballenberg chassis and a GRS five compartment coach kit. More of a fun thing to do and to use the chassis on a worthwhile project.

Nice ones, you can't beat a bit of outside framing to add some character to a model.

Thanks all. An interesting point about the extrnal framing. It was replaced because it rotted out and was done with steel bracing. It amazes me that it rotted so quick. The wagons were built in 1927 and rebuilt in 1932 from memory. I am aware they never had alot of the preservatives that we have but still very quick and not seemingly good value for money.
