Well I think it means (to me at least) that those posts that you didn't have time to read haven't been added to - still the same as your last visit when you didn't read them. Am I right?
Hmmm... Yes, you are right that they may be the same as they were on my last visit - that's the implication of the "have not been updated".

The issue is that they are the negative side of the "new posts' coin. They are the threads that have not been updated. What about the threads that have been updated? Am I supposed to look through all the threads that have not been updated to see if one is missing?
Remember, I only see 10 threads with "new posts" each time I visit, so there may be a bunch of threads that were added to while I wasn't looking that have now been pushed off the "top 10".

I get the impression that many posters aren't considering that there are only 10 "new posts" shown. There may be 100 new posts since last time you visited, but you only see 10 of them. Or am I confused too?

Which raises another question about the "top 10". Is it the latest 10 new posts? Or the 10 new posts in threads from when I last visited? In other words, is it the top/latest of the "new posts" list or is it the bottom/oldest?

{By far the best solution I have found is on MyLargeScale.com. Their "Active Topics" lists ALL threads with posts in date order, so the newest are at the top. Any thread you have looked at, that has not been added to, is in normal font, but a thread with new posts since your last visit is in bold. Most folk just go there and go down the list until they are done.]

Mick, they are not "updated since my last visit" and therefore there is nothing new in them that I haven't seen. See my answer to Jimmy below to view the problem.

Jimmy, that does not seem to be the case. You only get to see 10 threads with new posts - after those 10 you get "Threads below have not been updated since your last visit. " If there's nothing new in them you don't need to view the latter. But there may be 25 new posts in threads that have been updated and which did not make the list of the "top 10". Try clicking and count how many new posts you see.
Fred have to disagree, "new Post" list ALL new posts since your last visit, and it you did not read all the posts even informs you off post that have not been read, and not updated since your last visit.

"new Post" list ALL new posts since your last visit,
(I sometimes think I'm looking at a different GScaleCentral.) Jimmy, here's what I see when I click "New Posts". It clearly only has 10 threads, and then it says "Threads below have not been updated since your last visit. " BUT I have the "show only unread" filter - which is where I am confusing things. I think there are only 10 threads (today) that are new that I haven't seen.

it doesn't even list THIS thread which is pretty active because I read it. Without the filter it shows another 3 or 4 threads that I have already read.

And the header tab even says (10) but that's a red herring - there is no "top 10".:

Humblest apologies if anyone felt slighted by my efforts to figure out what is going on. :snooze::shake::banghead:

Fred there are more than ten posts, there are eleven that have been updated since your last visit, and all those at the bottom of the page if you scroll down, and the other 7 pages of threads. Also it shows you have 10 notifications, i.e. threads you have subscribed to, not directly related to new posts.

As you will see I have * new posts no notifications.

Jimmy, you have eleven posts since your last visit, but your display can't tell how many posts I have since my last visit, as you have no idea when that might have been?
All those at the bottom are under the eleven new posts and (including the subsequent seven pages) are headed "Threads below have not been updated since your last visit. "

I've been trying to understand the "top 10" that was mentioned in some early posts, as I have no reason to read threads that have not been updated - I looked at the ones I was interested in on some prior visit and they are now dormant. It would clearly be less confusing if I took off the "see only unread" filter, so that threads I have read show up along with the threads I didn't read yet.

I haven't 'subscribed' to any threads (recently) and it appears the "Alerts" list can tell me posts on threads where I have been posting - but not threads that I only glanced at but did not post on. Is that correct?

In theory, as I usually only look at the weekly digest and then pursue a few interesting threads, the "new posts" should be a lot more than 10 threads?

Fred you automatically subscribe if you reply unless you change your preferances, also you need to mark “
threads as read “ to remove thread from the unread list.

Well, it all seems clear as mud. I think I will bow out until next Saturday when my digest arrives - and the first thing I will check is the new posts list to see how many are listed.

ANd the answer is - - 67. So the 'top 10' is a misnomer. You get a list of the threads with posts since your last visit.
Now what was the question? Ah yes - expanding the "What's New" list, which does come with a limited list. But clicking "view more" brings up the rest of the 67 threads, so I see no need for a change.

It took a while but finally . .

However, it did occur to me to wonder about the "Weekly Digest" that I signed up for. It only has 27 items (threads with new posts?) of which 6 are Coffee Lounge.
