Electrical connection for LGB 27632 locomotive

Hi! I've finally decided to take apart one of my Amtrak LGB 27632 diesel locomotives. I've noticed that the wheels have stops, and from what I can see, the ones on the front wheels make contact with the rear ones. Does this provide power to the locomotive? Is it disabled? Because it slows down when passing over switches... I would try to bypass it, but the problem is that my track layout has several different boosters, and I don't know if the locomotive can be connected to two boosters at the same time.

Boosters are made to be connected during trains passing between them, their is no problem with a train picking up power on 2 of them as they pass over the joints.

Hi Dunny! So what do you think I could do to fix my problem with the trains stopping? Should I order supercapacitor banks to equip my locomotives, or check if they're making contact, and if they're not drawing power from the wheels, is there something disabled in the configuration?

Clean the backs of the wheels, where the carbon brushes rub..

Clean the treads of the tyres, where they contact the rail..

If you have a meter:
On a continuity setting (it bleeps) check each side of the loco, that wheels and skates are all connected..

And if you haven't access to a meter, you could just turn the loco upside down and test the continuity by touching the skates and wheels in pairs with the ends of the wires from a controller set.

Phil and playmo have given you the answers, if that does not work only 2 options open. 1 get larger locomotives, an 8 wheel bogie locomotive will not have the same issues or go to battery dead rail power like I have done.
