Thanks for the replies.
My 00 layout has 4' curves, and I intend to make the G scale layout as flowing as possible. Is flexible track available in this scale?
It is, but it's not always easy to find. Also, because of the large rail section, it's not easily bent either! I can't find any LGB flexi-track for sale, but AMS do a flexi track that is compatible with code 332. Try Trackshack or Garden railway Centres.
You may need to purchase a rail bender if you want 'fixed' curves, but as you are fixing to a board, then you might not need one....

Depend if you are after new or old track, usually bits of flexi around
2nd hand.

Pictures not the best but might be worth watching. LGB track takes a fair bit
of stick and will still come up good with a bit of TLC.
Straights tend to wear better than curves.

Oops manners - Welcome to the forum  you will soon be as nutty as
the rest of us

Another Westie owner! i'm relatively new to the garden but there is brilliant inspiration and advice on this site. Must dash, damn westies giving the neighbours grief.......

It's a great layout in such a small space too....

Just shown Meg to the boys - Hamish and Archie are in love :love: and Hamish has set up a facebook account so he can network.

In two years of running I'm on my second re' alignment of track and sidings. Nothing major but little tweaks that make it more interesting visually and operationally. Don't bank on what you start with is how you will finish.
I started collecting American outline 9 years ago as we renovated our bungalow. It was cheaper at the time so was swayed that I could stockpile lots of locos and wagons for the big day. Went off it as soon as I ran 4 wagon trains with no theme to it, sold up and bought anything LGB and have finally settled on a Swiss setting. My personal conclusion is that it is better to have a little of what you want rather than lots of allsorts.
Enjoy, and Meg is ever passing the Forest of Dean love to meet her!

Thanks Bazzer. Cracking pair of Westies there .... best dogs in the world. Hoping to get another one soon to keep Meg company, although Mrs Retro ain't convinced ...

I learnt from my experiences with OO that the last thing I want is to amass loads of engines and stock .... I want a V200, matching coaches, then maybe a 218 ... and see how I go from there.

Have a look at Stefan's Gartenbahn here for ideas....

Thanks Gizzy. Two wonderful railways there.

That first video with the V200 and 218 is just what I want, albeit with runs a lot shorter than that.

Welcome , we like the V200:thumbup:

Welcome, if you join this mob you will not just collect trains -
But Time Zones Welcome from Kilo soon to be Lima we may all be MAD be we are not all insomniacs.

Could I recommend you take out a membership of the G Scale Society.
They have a good little mag lots of contacts & open days all over (depending on the area) and you will see things that will blow your mind in gardens of all types.

Also go to a few shows BEFOR you start building. I started in G 37 years ago but was out of it for about 25 and boy has it developed.
If you can get hold of some R3 bends and a few straits and just lay them out in your yard it will help you get your head round the reality of G believe me its never the same on paper.

Good Luck from the banks of the Sale Canal, Vic.
