Hi. I had previously attached this question in the wrong place. I have a new 5 amp analogue LGB controller, (51079), which the blurb says is, 'suitable for any transformer'. I thought it would work well with my 5 amp LGB 50110. However it came supplied with a lead that fitted into the back with two wires running out of it. I have no idea how it attaches to both the track and the transformer. I read that it is recommended for use with the 51095 power pack but I don't really want to spend another £100 on another piece of equipment. Do I just send it back and get something like the new 5amp linesman's hut?
Sorry this is long winded, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The 50110 is AC outlet. The new 51079 requires DC. They are not compatible. The old 'hut' controller will work with your transformer - as will the earlier versions of the 51079 (like the 51070). In any event, you would need to use a DIN plug in the socket of the 51079 part -LGB 85101033, Adapter for LGB 51079

Dear Alan, Many thanks for the swift reply. I am new to all this and was taken in by the, 'works with any (LGB) transformer line. I will probably send it back and exchange for the new 5 amp hut which I presume is compatible.
Thanks again,
Trevor

The 52120 hut is designed for AC or DC supply. So it will work with your 50110.

Great. That was my first choice but the shop I initially contacted didn't have one in and offered me the 51079 in its place which was very kind of the owner, (KGR). I accepted, which in hindsight was an error on my part. I am resident in Co. Armagh and have no local suppliers. I will ask the shop if I can send the controller back and wait for a 52120 to come in.
Thanks once more,
Trevor

KGR are a pretty good supplier - I've always found them fairly understanding :nod:

Hello to you and thanks. I was visiting my daughter in Kent and was in the shop. I like to meet with suppliers as it's nice to put a face to places. As you say, I found the owner to be helpful and very involved with his business/hobby.

Andy at KGR is a true enthusiast - you wont have any trouble. The good news is you will end up with a 5 amp power supply which is pretty good for large scale out doors - it will run just about anything. (there are a few American outline jobbies, with 4 motors, which will be near the limit - but you dont bump into them much these days).

Hi Alan. Yes indeed, I wanted to have a bit more power, not because of very large engines, but the ability to run engines 70 odd feet away up a 4% gradient. I thought too much was preferable to only just enough.
I would like to add that it is so nice to have had contact with helpful, like-minded people like your good self. As I said, there seems to be little in the way of garden railway owners and suppliers in this neck of the woods. I hope to develop my link to this online group once I learn how to post pictures of what I am producing here. It is very much a beginner's layout and no doubt I will be asking many questions as I go along. Thanks to those who have entered this thread.

The only other forum member I can think of in Ireland is Mick who is a bit of a way from you in County Mayo - you may see his postings as 'Trammayo':think:

Hi Rhinochugger!
Thanks. It is a fair distance, but we usually get down that side now and again - absolutely beautiful area all he way down the west coast. I might look him up. There is a really nice garden railway layout further south at Clonakilty, West Cork. If you look up, the 'West Cork Model Railway Village', you'll get a taster. Given the weather you can have a great holiday.

Mick takes a trailer to local shows with the Ox Mountain Railway on it - worth catching up with him if you can :nod:
