Another speciality of the Brighton Line was gooey Toast. Basically 2 slices put together and only cooked on one side with the Butter on the uncooked side making it gooey. Yum Yum.Excellent - I am reminded of one Brighton MP who complained long and hard to Traveller's Fare about his desire for a cream cheese and anchovy sandwich to be put on the menu.
Eventually, they relented and he headed for the buffet car only to be told that it was 'off' (as in sold out).
One wag wrote to the newspaper, and wondered why said MP had ever worried about his anticipated delicacy as Traveller's Fare had never even mastered the plain cheese sandwich![]()
