Charging NiCd and NiMh batteries

I have recently built a little 040 based around a 7.2v battery. If was to build another could I split the lead from the charger and charge them in paralell accepting a longer charge time or does it not work like that? easier than rembering to go back and swap the charger over.

Yes it does, but you could do what Bigjack did and buy a power supply with 2 outputs, from my local model shop.

Not sure what happens if one pack is out of balance with the other (older or just more discharged).

I do! It seems to take forever - I started using 2 x 12v 9ah in parallel. Individually 30 hrs each after heavy use. Charged as a pair - six days!
