Cafe Rene

Vot about ze flying helmet and ze wet celery.....?

Aaah! Ze knobs! Ze knobs are flasheeeng!

By this point, many non-UK-based members of this forum must be thinking "what the **** are they on about??" Mind you, that's probably a normal state on here.....
I imagine it probably made it to Oz and NZ, but did it ever get shown in the US?

Meanwhile, back on the topic, Prehm do some kitchen and waiting staff, but again nothing "saucy".

Jon.

Edit: Dave got his stick of celery in while I was typing.....
Strangely enough, it was quite popular with our European cousins. The accents were obviously messed with but not much else.

Yes, I'd heard that.... apparently it was even popular in Germany!

I gather that Fawlty Towers goes down well in Europe too, with Manuel's nationality altering according to where it is shown - in the Spanish dubbed version, he is Italian.....

I think everyone has the same sense of fun really, especially the 'Allo'Allo type of farce. Although I do know that the makers of Secret Army which AlloAllo was based on, weren't as amused as they could have been!

It did give us, to my sense of humour, one of the funniest lines on prime time TV, when Herr Flick answers the telephone with "Flick, the Gestapo"...... I said "Flick, the Gestapo".....

David

I always thought Officer Crabtree got the best lines David....

This has been a wonderful amble down memory lane. We get repeats of "Dads Army" "Porridge" "Only Fools" etc but I suppose life has got too PC for "Allo Allo" the only programme we could laugh at ourselves, the pompous arses that we are. (Arses comes up as a misspelling--Why? Jesus is supposed to have ridden an Ass sitting on his arse!)

Repeats have been shown on Freeview recently, but not on the main BBC channels?

A quick check of the TV Listings just now though did not find any currently....

Season 1 at least is available on Netflix.

Don't suppose there's any mileage in these babies Gizzy? A bit on the characterish side, but ripe for some titivating! You can do wonders with a Stanley knife and some Milliput. Size is not too bad (although the head somewhat on the large side). Comparison figures are left to right: real LGB, Chinese 1/24, Preiser knock-offs, real LGB. The last ones, although genuine, seem to dwarf most of my other figures.
Anyway these are mini Barbie dolls, come in a bubble pack with change of clothes and a pet. £1 each from Poundland last week.P1060357 (2).JPG P1060358 (2).JPG

Popped over to the Cambridge Garden Centre this morning but there were Nono of the Models present. The 50% off Xmas tat was being grabbed up by a million and one pensioners present at the time. So I ordered one of these, hopefully it will work size wise.

Being Solar lit it should be a good addition to the night scene on the Dunnybahn, yes a French Cafe in old East Germany before the wall came down!

I think it will be a little small??
Perhaps have to go in middle distance?

Plan is to put it in a slightly out of the way place just as you say. Yes may go below Magdesprung where there are already some slightly small buildings in an effort to replicate the village that is below the real railway in that location. Giving some false perspective.

Not quite as naughty but nice as Zerogee's young lady Mike....

Did you get the 50% discount at the Garden Centre? Only thing left was the Church which was not what I wanted.
Brought a couple of these at the full price before Chrimble Jon.

Still good value for money even then for resin buildings that can be left outdoors....
