To the mods - Sorry chaps I was over the top with my previous post. You will always be between a rock and a hard place on this subject.

I guess reading some of this has opened up old wounds from a year ago. I must say I have found it useful to hear other's opinions - I thought I was the only one who was still hurt somewhere deep down in side. I have pretty much moved on now though. You are right that there should be no personal attacks.

I've had enough of this old toot and I am addressing this to those who might find that the cap fits.

I joined GSM quite late on and sadly towards the end of it's unfortunate demise. In that respect I don't have the in depth knowledge that some appear to have as to the ins an outs of the accusations and counter claims made in the last days of GSM. Which from my moderating perspective makes things a little more simplistic.

I have my own personal opinions about the demise of GSM and the obvious mal-treatment that was evident at the end and I will park that.

So here is my position as a moderator (not necessarily that of my colleagues). The best analology I can give is like a new pub landlord. You may hear from some regular punters that "so and so is no good and ought to be barred". That's as may be, but its a new place and lets see.

Most of the regular members that come here are courteous and a pleasure to have there contributions. However as with every pub there are always those smart rrrses that will try and hold court and disturb those who have just dropped in for their virtual pint.

A good landlord keeps and eye on them and eventually if they choose not to behave they get shown the door. You can then usulally find them in the pub up the road spouting off about their old place that they use to think was the dogs' and how it has gone downhill and what a pariah the guvnor is.

Well I have seen over the last year who falls into the rabble rousing camp and it has n't gone unoticed. Time and again I perceive certain types pitch up rarely and chuck pebble in to the pond just to see how big the waves get.

Don't take the mods as mugs, we are here to further the best interest of the site and the majority of the good people that come here to share in wholesome social intercourse.

If you want to go chucking pint glasses about dont be suprised if you get short shrift and shown the door, and dont give me all that "what about free speech nonsence". There are rules up which make it pretty clear what is expected and if you have signed up here, then you have agreed to abide by them, so stop grizzling about censorship.

If you behaved in the first place then you would nt get taken to task.

That is my 2p. Try not to end up in the nick for drunk and disordely please.

Agree completely with Woderwick's stance- and his interpretation of what one or two misguided individuals are occasionally wont to do.

Wodder is indeed a man of reason and integrity.
Wish I had his calm at all times.

And the pub example is most excellent. Seen it so many times in online forums.

Just a quick question regarding the prototype of this type of tanker; On the information board on the model itself, RhB is printed. Did they or do they exist on the RhB or is this something else? The only reason I ask is the buffers are different and I would just like to know.
Does anyone know anything about the prototype? Please?

RhB uses the broad I buffer, with the coupling being part of the buffer assembly. The NQD version is just a generic representation of a round buffer and this type of buffer is also found on most LGB stock as well.

On my visit to the RhB in May earlier this year, I only saw bogie tank wagons, but I would guess that the NQD version is based on an earlier RhB prototype 2 axle wagon.

Current RhB wagons can be found here;

Sorry, I should have made it clear, the LGB tankers have the RhB on the panel and have square curved buffers. (I don't have any newquida tankers, and as I have just been informed by swmbo, I won't be getting any either)

As Tag pointed out LGB has become an interchangable generic term for almost any large scale item. As a seller on Evilbay I have seen LGB quite often being used in the title line for items that have nothing to do with LGB, I have done it also when listing some Piko building kits. The reason is not any intended deception, as the product description and photos show very clearly what I am selling, the reason is so that the Ebay search engine will pull up the listing when someone does a search for LGB. Its pure marketing, as alot of ebay users search using the "all catagories" method and the more exposure you get your listing, the better chance it has to sell, plain and simple. I have seen titles with "LGB Aristo Bachmann" all in the title, its to que the search engine to include your item in any searches for those terms.

Well I have bought a couple of these tankers in the pastin the certain knowledge they were not LGB. I'm not a purist and they look OK to me on my railway. Its the only way I could afford to make up a tanker train. My only complaint was spelling SHELL as SHALL but perhaps that's the Chinese equivalent.

Can I have a pint of bitter and a packet of crisps please Wod.

Does anyone know what new models are due for release next year?

Do I detect a significant change to your Avatar Chas?
He asked knowing the reason...........

hey...

its high time i put my cents into the topic....

it hasnt gotten us far... :impatient:

But i wanted to know....could i use blue coaches in a Br grey/blue sceme? and also that it could be shortened to make a 4-wheeler  hmm.....

also the point that the coach bogies seem reasonable for a scratchbuilt rake of LNER teaks......
hint, hint :admire:

One of the problems with NQD is there is no part number difference between color.
