Building a garden railway

Hello. I’m building a garden railway slowly but surely in Suffolk. It’s not huge, and is mainly laid at ground level. I’m already thinking it needs more curves and changes in levels! It is mainly LGB, and I am using a CS3 central station. I’ve never used digital before , and so struggling a little…although I’m quite technical. I have got a Pola G turntable which has just been rereleased with a new digital control unit. I wondered if anyone else has attempted to run this turntable via a CS3? I realise there may not be many, if any, with this new release…but its worth a shot!

Welcome from an ex Suffolk lad, formerly in BSE, but now in Cambridge....

Welcome to the Forum! I'm in Hertfordshire, live steam and r/c battery, so not much help on digital matters, but have made and rectified several layout-building mistakes over the years...

Welcome to the Forum. Have you a name we can use, rather than your railway's name? Like Northsider, i have no idea about the digital side of things, it can be a bit of a dark art, but there's plenty on here who would give you sound advice ( see what I did there?)
Roughly, whereabouts in Suffolk are you? We like pictures, and dodgy humour, so feel free to join in

Welcome to the forum, there was a recent long thread about the new Pola Turntable look at this link where the same question was answered.
CS3 not the most user friendly of DCC systems, but you have now invested and will likely stick with it. One benefit is the ability to use a phone or pad to drive it. Best help I can give having played with one a little is to take baby steps and document in simple language what works for you then have a go at something else.

Thanks…I will concentrate on that thread. I don’t mind the CS3 UI actually, but I agree, there is a lot to remember and there are too many ways of doing the same thing. I do want the iPad interface, so although that’s not unique, it does seem to work well.
Turntable is quite complex for a beginner, but it was a generous present from my partner, and so I am obliged to continue with it!

Welcome from another Paul although this one is in Norfolk. We regularly visit the Yoxford Antique Centre on our frequent visits down your way.

Welcome "Yoxford", edit, Paul. Living in north Bucks, operating the West Well Railroad.Like others my path the past 20 odd years has avoided DCC and ended up in the live steam/battery camp. Trying to dabble though in OO/OO9. Immutable law of garden railways - They will always expand to the very limits of the area they are (allowed to be) inhabiting......and then some. Oh, it just starts with a few move curves and some changes in levels but then..... ;) We like pictures. Max

Welcome aboard

i do like the GUI Grafical User Interface of the CS3 which is very user friendly. Most DCC central units are still command driven (like MS-DOS) and we already 26years in the new century so its about time other manufactors step up.

You can operate your CS3 via VNC viewer on your laptop/PC
