Hi just found this interesting You Tube Vid about Building a Boiler for what looks like a 16mm Scale Quarty Hunslet. Whilst some may not be into such things a couple of very useful Tips and Ideas in this Vid.

1 Use a little drop of washing up liquid in the mix to help Silver Solder Flux spread better.

2 A Garden Spray Bottle with a Non-Return Valve and a Preasure Gauge can make a good cheep Boiler Test Kit for Home use before you get a proper Caliberated Test done.

Both of these ideas can be seen in action towards the later part of this Vid.

Having been a BSI qualified pressure vessel test/inspector, some people surprise me by what the hydro-static testing is about, which is not just about leaks, but deformation, expansion, and the return to size after testing.

But in our scale with the generally limited Preasure involved a lot of that is probably of less concern. However in a Nuclear or even other Fired Power Station, those things are a real concern.
