The loop is joined at last....now all that's needed is track

Getting ever closer to the date for the 'Golden Spike'....

Re:Broome Lake & Eastern RR

The return loop is complete - great effort by Dudley and Jerry (and moi), the first loco to run through was Dudley's MMR 2-8-0 "Lady Carla", followed by the BL&E M.O.W train. Both seen below waiting in the exchange sidings, follwed by a short Youtube video :

Nice shorts too. Don't suppose there are any close-ups of the works train? I know I'm being cheeky - just want to admire /[strike]copy[/strike] it. No seriously, I've always had an interest MOW and ancillary stuff:thumbup:

Re:Broome Lake & Eastern RR

hi..so hw did u weatherin yr steam locos as it oo awesome..so i need a tips pls? coz i ave same as yr porter tht is need weatherin it...thks u. SO btw what a lovely pictures..

Re:Broome Lake & Eastern RR

Hi Steven, the Porter is just sprayed with Railmatch Weather Black (1412), I haven't done anything else to it yet. Dudley's 2-8-0 I think he used Railmatch Frame Dirt on it, but he will be able to tell you more. There's lots of different techniques to weathering Steven, it's a big subject - a dilute wash of rust (light or dark) usually works well, but don't go too heavy handed as I did on the 0-6-0 pictured earlier in this thread. But if you do, just damp it down a bit with a black wash. Also dry brushing is another technique that works well. I hope this helps.

Mick, I'm with you there - anything thats smacks of maintenance does it for me. I'll take some shots of the individual cars and post them here later, with a run down on each one - the grey was Holts Grey Primner, seemed to fit the bill quite well.

Re:Broome Lake & Eastern RR

Hi Mick, it's a bit mucky for taking photos at the moment, but here's a quick rundown of what the vehicles are (and old pikkies of them where I have them). All I did was a quick repaint using Holts Grey Primer, and some transfer logos (ooo sorry, decals) and dry print Woodland Scenics numbers. :

Crane Brake #9102 is an HLW model (I think it's the 1:24 but it looks OK in the rake) - bought off Evilbay. Here's a pic from Evilbay :

Crane tender #9101 The body was made by a certain Mr Barnabe of this parish, and I just bunged some Bacchy wheels on it :

Crane #9100 was another Evilbay buy :

MOW Boxcar #9245 was a Bachmann MOW car (I had no idea they made one until I saw it on - guess where - Evilbay !) :

Re:Broome Lake & Eastern RR

Brilliant Don - plenty of inspiration too:thumbup: Got the crane (ebay of course:rolf:), need to get busy (when I'm not busy) - it will be a long term project on the Round Tu-it list. They look really well in grey. Many thanks for taking the trouble to post the pics.

Re:Broome Lake & Eastern RR

I've found a picture of the complete train Mick - the remote control on the crane tender is definitely not to scale

The caboose is a track cleaner - not sure how much good it does ! It's bleddy heavy though.

Re:Broome Lake & Eastern RR

Thanks Don - like it, envious and full of ideas! And a track cleaner could be useful too:thumbup:

BTW - I saved yesterday's pics so I know what mine should look like - next winter maybe!
