I saw this model "in the flesh" at Mark's on Saturday. Not only is it a stunningly good model, but the sound is superb too.

Magic :applause: :applause: .

Model of the Year material, here, Doug, as well as a narticle for Tags's trainset monthly...: =) Methinks that the other GR would be grateful to see this, as well. Give Marc a toot on his site at side-street bannerworks.

Brilliant job, and VERY persuasive...

Bring it to the next main131 meet?

BTW - next time, remember that Phil Dipple of Phil's Narrow Gauge [www.philsnarrowgauge.com], makes a one-foot long strip of embossed rivets in brass, see -

Brass Rivet Strips......................$2.00 per strip

Specifications

Size, 1' long by 3/16" wide

Rivet spacing, .100" or 10 per inch

Rivet size, approximately .050" in diameter and .025" in height.

If I ever get around to building a box-cab, like Bruce Chandler did, that's what I'll be using...call me a cheat if you will! :D

Wow, much better than the "works" model at the front of the page.

I second TAC's suggestions of getting it in print.

First class job Building one as an electric loco, Only think i've found is the roof is a bit of a pig!

Yes, that was difficult. I found the shape wasn't quite the same as the top of the ends. I glued it together then draped it over the ends so it was roughly the right shape, then filled in the join with a thin strip of styrene. It required quite a bit of sanding down to get a smooth finish with no ripples.

I also found the edges of the roof weren't parallel so i placed it on a sheet of 'wet and dry' on a flat surface and sanded the bottom edges flat. In the end i needed to add some extra strips at each end of the edges and sanded it down flat again.

If i was doing it again i would buy a roof section that GRS sell for coaches and use that - nothing to join at all.

You can just see the added strip on the left hand end, of the nearest edge, in this pic:
