Battery Track Power “Track Power”

Just got an email about this product (USA availability only at the moment by the looks of things) about a research concept that has apparently turned into a Product. Might be just the thing for those that do not wish to install Mains Analogue Controllers outside. Cost around $100. interesting concept that shows perhaps Battery Power one way or the other may well be the future for Garden Railways.

I think that you may have just sold me in buying one if they get to UK, thanks Paul. Have been pondering Building Lights for ages and one of these could be just the thing with a Detecter and timer to fire up the Lights at dusk for an hour or two, LED of course for Low Power Drain.

That would be full circle, then - 'cos that's how many non-steam garden railways were first powered

Paul, my emoticon was because if you were to use it for lighting, you don't need the $110 box, just the battery or power supply, which is NOT supplied for that price.

This is a $110 speed controller that handles 10 amps, with a knob and switch, no remote, and power source not included.

I don't bedgruge the manufacturer making a buck, but you could build this for a lot less with parts off the shelf.

It seems that we may have visited this place before. Back in the day, those living in rural areas used dry cells to power their trains. What's old is new again.

The beauty of today's technology being, where you had dry-cells, or 'wet' lead-acid, you can now use Lithium-based batteries to get a greater charge-density in a smaller, lighter package.
