Battery Powered R/C Loco

55.5

Is Personal
Radio Controlled, Battery Powered Locomotive wanted.

Must be capable of running around R1 curves.

Hi Gordon,

I am open to suggestion. Having sold virtually ALL of my Gscale stuff I ended up with a full circle of well used R1 track and some PIKO straights.

Last year I re-landscaped a small area of the railway which looks a bit strange without track in the total garden concept.....I also do have a 1A LGB controller..........the little grey cells came in to play but they are telling me that battery/RC is the way to go..............it also has to be something that will traverse R1!!!!!!.

I'll follow this up with a couple of pics of what I have re-vamped so far.

Looks very impressive, Roly. The Playmobil R/C locos can handle R1 curves with no problems. (I'm talking about the original versions as I have no experience of the new diesel.) In fact, the plastic track that comes with them is about R0.9 and that's no problem for them either.

Hi Roly
I got one of these for Scarlett (granddaughter), well that's my story, and it has sound lights and is a good base for a bit of customising as well.
Amazon had them for £69 for the set but their price has gone up since Christmas
It will easily navigate R1s

I have actually been looking at this set as a possibility Mike. They are just under the Ton now but seem to be quite good value compared to other similar offerings.
How good is it at running very slowly?

The Roundhouse Little John is supposed to be very good from what I have read and been told.

Yes it is good value especially at the £69 that I managed to grab it for! But at even £99 there is a lot in the set.

To make it run slowly is pretty easy as it is just a case of adding a few diodes. There is a very good thread on it on the forum by PaulRHB about using diodes to improve the slow running.

I have one and have seriously Modified it. Look at my thread and also that by RHB. RHB'd Diode Mods certainly improve the Slow Speed. But they are not too bad unmodified. I bought mine from Amazon for around £90 in November I think. The next Day Amazon had some on at £69 Post Free. So it may pay you to keep looking for them at Amazon till the right price comes up.
