Hi guys, just seen this on the Bay. I am pretty sure that it is one of those horrible cheep rip off ones that were imported to the UK back in the 80's that has been repainted. To be fair to the guy, he states that he does not know the manufacturer.

Looks like a beaten up Spremberger to me

LGB made a battery version of the Spremberger loco, running on 2 U2 batteries and in a set with 2 of the wagons as seen. Plastic track.

This one has been painted (as has the yellow wagon), and I reckon someone has added glazing.

I have one of these sets myself, but I gave the track to a member on the old GSM forum....

They used to come with a couple of "Playmobil" people.

That's interesting Casey, as the one I have also had some Playmobil Peeps. I thought that they had been put in there by the previous owner.

These Peeps now reside on a well known railway in Elmstead Market, Colchester....

Spot on Jon:

At least the car is one of the Asian versions of the LGB battery set by the coupling. The Asian ones were made reportedly from cast off Lehmann dies per Jack Barton, if anyone would know, it would be him from his past writings on the subject for the Depeche.

Didn't these come as a Sesame St set complete with Big bird and Cookie monster I know I bought one for the kids to play with years ago..................

There were several different sets, the Sesame Street ones were cabless actually.....

LGB did a battery version. This was copied in the far east, and the el-cheapo versions, non LGB, sold for about £15- £20 on market stalls etc in mid 80's in the UK. Alyn

Not all were copies tho....<wink>.

I do remember a long while ago coming across the same set (It's the Kleine Dicke with a Sulzenbach Feldbahn truck) and the people here (or GSM) said it was a kosher early LGB 'toy' and battery powered, the only reason I doubted at first is that I didn't know LGB had done battery toys based on its LGB trains - the doubt came from the fact that the mouldings were crisp and didn't look copied. This could well be the real deal and as such collectable.
I personally think it's horrible!
Incidentally, if it is original LGB ask the guy for a photo from the other side of the loco, there should be a very obvious forward/stop/back switch.

They all have the switch, the giveaway is the EP-L markings on the bottom.
