I am letting go of some Bachmann 1:20.3 scale locomotives (K27, 2-6-6-2 mallet & others) and some rolling stock which have never been used and are still in their original packaging. What is the best platform for selling, I have never sold anything online before?

Well, first off you could try offering them on here using the For Sale section? Just some simple rules to follow... You won't get "silly money" for them unless there is something that is really in demand, but if you're looking to move them at sensible prices then it's well worth trying.

Other than that, then I guess evilBay?

If you are confident enough to do it Ebay is your best bet for a good return. List with an accurate description of condotion and a well lit set of representatives photos to fully illustrate. Look to list offering compedetive overseas shipping rates. Your most likely customer will probably be in North America or Germany. But don't count out other parts of the globe. Regular auction houses are too dependent on local market conditions to drive prices and, like reatailers, will take substantial cut of the achieved/perceived market price.

Do you still have the original outer shipping packing ? This is a sturdy corrugated card outer case with a removable one inch thick foam liner. This pack protects the regular large red display box, with shaped styrofoam inner to hold the loco/stock and accessories. If you find yourself shipping overseas you should use this full packing to minimise risk of shock damage in transit. I have brought one or two of Bachmann's large "Spectrum" locos in from the US to UK and they were all shipped in this extra packing for this reason. This is how they arrive from the Chinese manufacturing base at the distributors and usually to the end user.
