I have a 3 truck shay that has one wheel freezing on the centre truck which I fear is caused by the good old split gear. Looking around for a replacement I cannot find one to replace the gear (tried NWSL but couldn’t see one) but I did find this Motor Assembly (G Shay) (New) [M10051-0ZN02-0ZN01] - $62.32 : Bachmann Trains Online Store! 1 does anybody know if this is a direct drop in replacement that I can use to repair/upgrade my truck. I have an old 38 Ton 2 truck shay as well so reckon that I will probably need some of these in the future.
If anybody knows where I can get a replacement gear I will be truly grateful for the knowledge.

Well, it's on the 3 truck Shay page of the Bachmann parts catalogue, so, I suppose it should be. You could also email and ask them to confirm and add the bit about possible 2 truck gear requirement. Edit - Looking at the parts diagram it certainly is a "drop in" replacement. However, it does not include the axle mounted gears. If those have split then it is not your fix. Max

I recently obtained the 2 truck model (probably the same gear). This split a gear the first time I ran it! I sourced a similar gear with a smaller bore but have yet to fit it. Meanwhile I removed the offending gear and put it all back together and it runs fine. I'll get around to fitting the gear at sometime!
