Bachmann / Liliput Trams

The motorised units were announced in 2011, but still aren't available. The three trailer units are new items for 2012. I've asked Liliput about their expected delivery date, but they don't know yet...
Bachmann also has/had trams, but I believe the Liliput models have better motorblocks and are less noisy.
Anyway, I think I ordered one of these Liliput trams in January, so now I'm just waiting for them to arrive some day... Review will be posted on Gscalenews.

The early motor blocks in these were dreadful:thumbdown:...........I gave up on mine and fitted a USA Trains block to it.
The later models (red box not maroon) are much better................

I'm thinking that one of the un-powered cars will look great with the lgb dr steam tram loco...............

I do have one of the Bachmanns extended and put onto bogies. It looks right to me.
Failed power cars are usually converted to run as trailers, you do need trailers !
I think the noisy complaining gears sound just right for tramcars and we keep them well greased, but failures happen.
The tram fleet is often increased from Ebay etc when something turns up at a reasonable price
These were bought in this month, untried of course, and all fortunately run well
Smart arrivals like these always retain the original paintwork whilst more care-worn examples are repainted.
I dont like trams with the same fleet number so they are carefully changed as on this Hershey which was No.6 and had also had the underframe painted silver to match the tail load.

I just bought a Bachmann toastrack and an enclosed car via ebay at a price that lets me think of cutting and shutting...... Thoughts are in my head re making a California Combination car from the both i.e. a bit of cross bench at each end with saloon in the centre... then I can use the single truck....dutchelm said:

The extended Bachmann tram runs on home-made bogies, using parts from a Hartland power block I think.
At present the bodywork sits on a plasticard chassis, but this winter I am going to try to make one from brass to give the tram more structural strength.
Here are another couple of pics of it closer up.
Some of the donor trams have got a second life as re-builds.
This was a Bachmann toastrack car that arrived in a damaged non-working state for peanuts, as I needed some replacement seats
for another car. The power unit was coaxed into life ( and is VERY noisy and slow ) so I constructed a works car body from plasticard sheet. A very basic effort, but it looks the part and after a coat of paint fits in well and I am pleased with the result.

The last picture is my live steam fix:- a 1/10th scale showman's traction engine with 89 key Gavioli Fairground Organ that I built over two years; works using mp3 player, and 10 watt stereo amp, all built in. The drums and conductor (modified LGB station master) and lighting, are digital controlled using a Hornby Elite plus chips. Alyn
