You really only need a new lever box, they can be swopped out by unhitching 2 screws that hold it in place.I tested and found the loco indeed pushing the tracks on intended direction. It worked most of the time. If I am pushing with loco at the end and some light wagon with plastic wheels at the front then at times it climbs over the rail. But my tracks are very old and lying outdoor for years. So I put it down to wear & tear. May be if I buy new LGB 12000/12100 then it should fix as it should have better spring actions.
