Atlernating Station Circuits

I have set up two alternating station circuits to allow four trains to alternate around the circuit. They are wired as shown in the EPL Techniques 00724 manual.
One works well, the other has a problem, when a engine triggers the reed switch, the signal goes haywire, switching rapidly back and forth and causing the points to do the same.
I have double checked the wiring, more than once and all seems well.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem - any solutions?

The LGB reed switch contains one reed switch and two diodes, one in each direction, hence the three terminals. As in this case the reed triggers the points and signal, allbeit incorrectly, I would think that the reed itself is working as it should but the diode that's in circuit has gone short circuit permitting ac current to reach the point and signal. Alternatively the outputs of both diodes may be accidentally shorted to each other, this would have the same effect as both would feed the point and signal.

I agree you have the reed connected to the wrong pole and it is vibrating do you have both sides of the reed connected?

Try fitting the reed switch from the other station as you know that one works okay.

My interpretation of that statement is that the wiring is incorrect. Maybe there is a misprint on the diagram you are following. Any chance of posting a copy on here?

I like using simple automation too!

Maybe your issue is caused by one loco sitting over a reed switch....and sending one polarity to the signal/point
When the other loco passes over another reed, the opposite polarity is also sent, and the signal/point is being sent both polarities..which is what you are seeing.

On my automation, I have inserted low value resistors into the non switched power rail..this gives gentler stops and starts.
