Aster Schools rebuild

Thanks Paul!
Northsider Northsider did you have the measures to notice the beadings were too thick or did you only notice by the appearance?
I would like to make my Maunsell coach look like the real ones but for now I could only find photos from the internet, not any precise measure
Thanks!

Marvellous. I admit live steam is too frightening for me, so I admire your bravery too
I discovered live steam by playing with static wilesco engines using esbit tablets. This is quite secure at it desn't boil and spill :)
Then I put an aluminium foil in the burner to make it like a tank and filled it with alcohol gel. This allowed me to make some errors and learn not to put too much alcohool in the tank :)
Later when I tested the burner of my Schools I was really afraid of lighing it but I went step by step, making sure the new seals of the alcohol tank did not leak using water, then with alcohol but no fire, finally after double or triple checking everything I lighted the burner out of the loco, once confident I put the boiler to test it, then plugged the wilesco boiler to to the loco and finally steam from the loco !

First burner lighting, I then did a lot of wick tests to get more blueish flames

I try to be secure by having some habits like never put the meths bottle on the table or desk but on the floor so I never forget to tighten the cap, and I always have a towel soaked of water near me. Fingers crossed for now I only made some burn marks on the kithchen table :)

Yes it is nice looking and seems to run wellm thank you :)
I will attend an event this weekend, hopfully I will be able to run it on a track! I'll keep you posted

Next step will be adding some restriction 0 maunsell coaches (I will try building a single one to test my ability before ordering more)
Has anyone any experience on Bowaters kits?
I plan to order a complete coach kit including boggies and 3-link couplers
Thanks!
As Northsider Northsider says, I built an Isle of man Small F and found it it quite easy but modified the beading with plasticard, here's a link to the build on the IoM 15mm group website

Oops! Northsider, Fezwig, I mixed your nicknames sorry!
Thank you Fezwig for the build log!
The tip for making a removable roof is of great help!

Yesterday was her first runs on a real track! I was invited to EVC45 monthly meeting :)

The club is located in the south of Paris, in Longjumeau and they have a quite large track 20 x 10 meters (65 x 32 feet) and a smaller one
Here's the site of the club if you wish to meet, they are very kind :) Le blog de EVC45
Nice steady running, just shows what an Aster Schools can be made into with some tender loving and knowledgable care.
