Another ebay purchase

I`m sure someone will tell me that these are "toys" as well, but for $10 US they`ll go behind my 4-6-0 Bachmann and look just fine

To be honest they could cost ten times the price and somebody would still call them toys, if they do it for you then they are good enough.

Not sure how well my artistic painting will go, however I can paint walls and fences like a champ been a long time since I painted model cars and trucks . . . or put one together for that matter.

The Buddy L range are the original products from the moulds that some of Bachmann's rolling stock come from.
The Buddy L loco's tender is exactly the same as the Big haulers and the Caboose is the same as the Bachmann 2 axle centre cupola.
The scale is 1:22.5.
So they are useful models to get especially for the prices that you got them for!

They are every bit as good as anything Bachmann makes, in fact probably a step up from the standard Big Hauler line. All they need is paint.

Buy an airbrush, a decent one no, maybe not yet.
Of course the joys of painting your models is simple, if you don't like it do it again.
On a serious note (for a change) the biggest and best change to, ahem, toys is to spray them with a matt varnish - it is absolutely astounding what the difference is between toy gloss and model matt.

it just shows that to get going in G Scale does not need to be expensive, Good on you.

Of course the bug may catch you - and then costs are entirely up to you.

Go for it! I've never had any great budget for the railway and like you, snapped up eBay goodies when the price was right. I'm not all that wonderful at painting, but you can soon make them your own. Mucky stock seems easier to do! And now I've got the hang of making my own decals, I'll finally be going back to finish off my little fleet of cheapies.

The great thing about "cheap" toys is that you can practice kit-bashing skills without feeling guilty you are wasting money. And probably get some stunning results as you let your imagination soar! I'm always cash-strapped, so would never touch the more expensive items - but the cheap stuff I feel at liberty to mess about to my hearts content!
