Having been running Vintage Tinplate (and wood) Gauge 1 layouts for a few years now the need for a small garden railway has always been there. I now have enough LGB track now to build it in the summer and currently planning it.

I have a mixture of New and used track so cleaning the used items has been necessary. Dismantled tghe track and cleaned tghe rails in a Vinegar and table salt bath, then polished up on a nylon brush wheel. Worked out OK.

Cool! What features will your layout contain? Station? Loop? Scenery? Tunnel?

Welcome to the forum Sir.

And yes, we like pictures....

Welcome aboard. And I'll echo everyone else, post pictures please when you can.

Still in the planning stage, however below a few photos of the vintage tinplate layouts that I run with teh G1mRA Vintage Tinplate Group. These are loose laid each time so a more permannet layout will be welcome.
Bear in mind that most of the rolling stock locos etc are pre WW1.
The buildings are Bassett Lowke.

This is why I want to go with G gauge in the garden. The idea for the layout is a ring around the patio with a couple of sidings, and then a long track across the back of the garden possibly with a passing loop, returning to the patio forming a Chord type junction. Of course I will be able to run some of the G1 items if I wish.

When I get going I'll post photos etc. and probably be looking for advice now and again.
