T'is the nature of the beast (human) to complain about their lot..
If it is sunny, it is too hot, and the plants will wilt..
If it rains, it damages the crop..
If it is cold, things don't grow..

If by accident, or design, you work with 'creatives', you are probably a Mac person..
If you work more in Admin, and an ordinary office environment, then most-likely Windows..

Petrol / diesel..

Gas / electric..

Meat / veg..

T'is the diversity of life, which keeps it interesting.
AND,
It would be boring, if we had nothing to rib each other about! ;)
Plus of course G vs Z.

I do notice one difference... each post in a thread was in it's own box, what a shadow dropdown and to the left at the bottom.

Now, every few posts, 2 posts are stuck together, i.e. the 3d dropdown shadow effect is gone on a post and the next post starts without anything else.

When I get time, I'll turn off my blockers and see what it looks like without them. I've been noticing this lately. Something has indeed changed, and perhaps it is an interaction with my blockers and the forum formatting software. No big deal, just sometimes it looks like a quote of a post when it is just 2 posts "glued together" without the usual separation.

Greg

edit, indeed, this post is "glued" to the immediate bottom of Anglian's post

Hi Greg - for what it is worth both Anglian's and your posts appear formatted correctly to me.(Safari 15.1). Each post shows as separate box on a light gray background.

This is what I see (Again Safari on an iPad).

Yes, it is uBlock Origin that is cutting out the space between posts on occasion.

I can narrow it down to which of the FOURTEEN trackers that I am blocking with uBlock, and of course the other trackers that Ghostery is blocking, most notably Google and Doubleclick, the biggies.

But for now, I can live with UBlock losing a space between posts in exchange for not being tracked.

Whatever was happening, has been tamed, greatly..

I am guessing either there has been a Forum-software update? - Tends to break things..
Or, the googley-ad-service do-hickey, had been tweaked by Google, to be a little more aggressive?

So thankyou for calming things down.. - It was becoming a bit intrusive.

Wierd. Apart from Llangollen Festival, I've not seen any adverts, and now that too seems to have disappeared. Using Windows/Firefox. Not complaining, mind.

Do I really need a shipping container, even if its a competitive price?

I was dismayed, on the 1st of the year, by the number of ads appearing within the body of members posts. When I posted on this, it was suggested that it might be something to do with my server, as I was in the US at the time, operating on my son's Wi-Fi, I was happy to wait, until I returned to the UK, to see if things changed back to normal. On my return, I found that things were just as bad, and for me the situation was intolerable. I bit the bullet and have paid Paul to be Ad-Free. Money well spent, the appearance of the Forum has been transformed, never been better. I would urge anyone with concerns to pay up and be free of all that annoying dross, I wish I had done it years ago.

I installed uBlock and now I get this:
Please support G Scale Central by disabling AdBlocker on our website.

This message is only being displayed because we have detected that you are using advert blocking software in your internet browser.
By using an AdBlocker you are depriving the site operator of the funds to operate the site, if too many of you do this then expect the site to close, its quite simple.
If you do not want to see the adverts then we have an advert free option, please goto your profile and select Account Upgrades.
Paul (Administrator)

Am I correct in thinking that the website only gets paid if I click on an advert? If I ignore them, then Paul doesn't get paid anyway?
I used to pay for 'advert free' but decided I could live with the ads.

But if everybody blocked the Ads, there would be no point in advertisers using the site!
Would the advertisers know if or how many users were blocking the ads, last year I didn't let the ads bother me too much, this year something has changed and the ads are a real pain, but that's the price of having a free site.

Personally this is one of the very few sites which I have a tab almost permanently open, so on that basis I can either put up with the ads and enjoy the forum or pays me money to get rid of the ads.
