Perhaps a tad tricky to fit R/C to, but someone will have a go.
 
Have to say this looked flippin' amazing especially as its the first engineering sample! Finally a QHunslet with real heft! I have always liked the little TME and Finescale ones but they always look a bit lightweight, when seen with one of them this beast looks like it could have them for dinner :D

Its because the aim of the loco was to have as detailed a backhead as possible I suppose, being an open cab the 7/8ths requirement was to have a very neat and "real" looking backhead as the gas fittings etc allowed, and the two gauges are a very obvious feature on the prototype. The water filler is under the tank filler lid by the way I'm told!!! It has a nice start to the safety valve (not complete yet) and a lovely dinky pressure gauge!

The meltdown is going to end???? I reckon it's just getting into 2nd gear... be patient wait till things slump even more then pounce when some poor bugger has to sell all his stuff to keep a roof over his head.....
 
Sometime back I was considering the G1 LSWR B4 and had started to save but I'm thinking that if I do manage to get that sort of money together then this loco could be a better bet and could share a common track gauge with my G1 & G rather than needing 32mm for my favourite 2' gauge prototypes.

I have read a little about 7/8" scale but am not completely up to speed; are slate wagons available?
 
A couple of points raised above:

Radio control - I believe Dave Mees has already hatched a scheme to fit this and although Accucraft are supplying them manual only, I reckon there will be one or two specialists such as him out there who will oblige.

Slate wagons - yes, these are available as kits, DJB are planning one and Simply 7/8ths produce quite a range:

The water filler unscrews to reveal the boiler top up and the safety valves will carry the easing bar of the prototype.

All looking very interesting as I still find slate & skip wagons rather small even in 16mm scale.

Apologies for taking this off the original topic but I'm keeping within the overall 7/8" theme...

I see that Slater's now make the curly spoke wheels but where do you source the Sierra Valley wheels from?

Mike did show me a pic he took of his prototype wagon posed beside the loco.
Looked just right.

Trackshack have is advertised at £750 which I think they are quoting as being £100 under the anticipated list.
I take it that list price is not 100% confirmed at present.

I was waiting to see what the prototype looked like. Needless to say, I put in my order once I saw the photos. I am not sure mine will remain in a 'normal' quarry Hunslet configuration or livery. Two prototypes are pulling at me, both with a covered footplate and a base colour other then the two presently on offer.
 
Lovely isn't it. I think you'll find plenty kit manufacturers all of a sudden offering 7/8ths products in the coming months. To be able to run small 2' gauge prototypes on 45mm gauge is all of a sudden like inventing a whole new hobby for many people I talk to. Can't wait to see what comes next :)

Indeed...for those of us who would like to work in 7/8"=1' scale, but aren't necessarily interested in modelling slate quarries, I'm hoping that this engine will sell well enough that Accucraft UK will consider other prototypes that worked in a variety of industries -- a Bagnall saddle tank, for example.

Oooh, yes, a Bagnall would be nice, I approve of them! (As well as lots of other small locos.)
