A special was run today on account of the new workshop project. It included the RR Boxcar/Van and a newly imported railbus trailer car full of VIPs as well as two coaches of enthusiasts. The honour of propelling the VIPs through the new portal for the very first time was given to the ancient founding, but recently numbered battery U Class. This loco was pootling about when I was yet to be born and our estate was still a field!
The garage door has been disposed of and a heavy stud wall built with a new door. There is a shiplap outer and 19mm ply inner skin. Each through portal now has a sliding door of heavy exterior ply making the work shop habitable in winter and also much more secure. A new bench and shelves have been built down one whole length of the workshop giving more project space. Next project is to put in some storage sidings under the bench with the through main lines.
The photos have shown me a jet wash may be in order before the 16th!
Surprisingly having the trains disappear off stage and appear from the "tunnel" adds a bit of unintended interest.
PS for those of you yet to visit we have built over the drive leaving only a narrow path so there will never be a chance to park a car in the garage again - the garage looked marooned and I was hoping making it into a workshop would tidy it up a bit.
