The Dash9 has got to the completion stage and had a test run today. After much head scratching as to what to repaint for it to haul, most passenger stock will be dwarfed by it, I decided to try the Aristocraft Aluminium coaches and as I had a `spare` end observation car this has become the prototype. It still needs a few more coats but I think it will look the part once I get a five car rake done. You can see why I didnt get on well in `OO` railway circles cant you? They dont like the wrong door handles on a Mark 1, this would never do. To me this is what a garden railway is all about...a bit of fun and relaxation

The Prototype `Mark 2` coach for the Dash9 to haul is almost complete and I am quite pleased with the result. It is better than I thought to be honest, so after the Christmas break a further four coaches will be painted in a similar style to make up a short rake.

Nice idea - looks good. If you could get a second body you could chop it up and get a cab at each end which would make it more British looking.
I would love to see a USAT S4 in this livery. If a new cab was fitted to an S4 that was flush with the height of the engine compartment it would be a dead ringer for a class 20 (from a distance anyway).

I agree Chris, but I wanted to do as little work as possible to the actual engines, although maybe the real railway will follow my lead and have single ended engines
I have already earmarked the next loco to recive BR Green, this High-Nose SD45 which will become a sort of Super-20

The rake of Blood and Custard coaches, repaints of the USA Aluminium cars, are now nearly completed, just need touching up and varnishing.
They have has no less than five top coats, all applied by hand brushing, so hopefully it will be durable
At the same time, this new British Railways theme has spread to the Branch Line stock, and an LGB Tram Engine and some stock has been suitably repainted to represent a sort of Wisbech and Upwell train. If this was a OO group I would be on my way out of the door now!

The completed rake got it`s first run today in glorious winter sunshine. I am very pleased with the look of it, and it was well worth the two month`s work the repainting took. It is made with a large tin of `Modellers Licence` as sold by Rule Eight Productions I know, but I love it and that is all that matters!

Great job on the repaints so far - I must also agree with the suggestion from DaveB2 above, that a Piko Class 218 German diesel would, I think, be a prime candidate for this British Repaint treatment......

I had thought of a Piko 218 in BR Green, and if one comes my way at a reasonably discount price I am sure it will happen. I know what you mean Chris M about not wanting the `do` this to USA locomotives but the Dash9 used was purchased in poor bodywork condition and the stable of heavy US Muscle locos is still very much in evidence here and not under any danger of being repainted! Most are currently tucked up warm and secure until the Spring well away from the Paintshops.
