Here it is, 680mm over buffers a shade under 27 inches. First impression is very good. There is a tiny sag in the deck but no more than you?d get on a real wagon so nothing to worry about. Apart from the pipe moulding error mentioned below it?s very good.

Slightly odd error on this. The air pipes haven?t been drilled to slot onto the wagon pipe! See red arrows.

Simple to solve though with a pin vice

Saw them last week in Arcadia. I do like the look of them, but didn't take it out of the box.

The detail is exquisite BUT most of it is under the floor.
Wouldn't it be better to have less costly effort where it is out of site and a cheaper product?
Or am I just being a Philistine?
BTW I would love one - several even.

Popped in GRS today and picked this up, same number but now a painted wooden deck, slightly darker grey chassis and the pipes are fitted correctly on the ends.
Nice improvements on an already good model.

Also noticed that the buffers are sprung on this which I've not noticed on anything else.

Mind you the price had dropped £8 from the first one so GRS' push on LGB prices does seem to be having an effect

I'm with Keith on this, if you can't see it why waste money on it :thinking:

It is a personal thing but I love the detail. Why have opening doors etc. It can be easy to make a dumbed down version of anything - much harder to increase the detail.
I have to say, looking at some of the new items coming from LGB/Marklin, the detail is getting quite impressive. The original LGB theme of rubber ruler/bit of a toy is fading fast.
In the smaller gauges, fine detail has developed enormously - nice to see it in the larger scales.

I do agree that any detail that won't be seen is effectively pointless but I would want to see anything that could be seen from the side at track level or eye level layouts and big bridges would reveal the omissions.
Now if only Piko would do some RhB stock to help persuade prices down further like Bachmann did for the US stuff

Its a beautiful model, I picked one up today from Champex-Linden after popping across the border into Germany for the day... Its the first time I've bought any G scale stuff in nearly 3 years!!
