Hello all,

I use a stationmaster to control my analogue DC layout. Per the manufacturer it can be hooked up to a 12 V dc power supply such as this one:

BA Products Survival Products

without the need for the LGB transformer and speed control I currently use. My question is does it seem wise to all of you to use direct power from a third party device or should I just keep using the LGB transformer. I am concerned about power surges or short circuits and such.

yes, but a fuse might be a good idea... the stationmaster works up to 18v...

the manufacturer is here in San Diego, you could email him and maybe even get him on the phone, he's a member of the San Diego Garden Railway Society.
