1/20th Vs. 1/24th Vehicles

Tamiya, Ebbro, Monogram and Revell do 1/20 scale plastic kits.

While I have found some diecast vehicles in 1/22 scale, they're too "new" for my layout. There are a few on Ebay right now( mostly 1930's Packards) ,and they are in kit form made by Hubley/Gabriel.
I have found period correct vehicles (1910 to 1920) in 1/20 scale,and while there is a broader array of vehicles available in 1/24 scale, I'm going ahead and purchasing a couple of more 1/20 scale diecast vehicles .
In fact, I still plan on using the 1/24th vehicles that I already bought , but with my smaller Kalamazoo, Lionel, and HLW trains ,as those 3 manufacturers trains are on a smaller scale than Bachmann,LGB, or Aristocraft's trains are in.
I just bought a 1/20 Hubley 1909 Model T Touring car, and am also considering a 1/20 1909 Model T Sport Runabout.
I really like those 1/22 scale Packards, but ,as I stated, they're all too "new" for what I'm trying to get done.
Nice layout, Zerogee. Some of those buildings ( real life versions of them ) look like they'd be right at home on the shores of Lake Tahoe!

Looking around I am not sure that I have found any suitable Trucks, bearing in mind my wish for East German types. I have a couple of Trabies and a Russian Executive 1957 1:24 Volga which work well. But oh for a tatty East German open back truck.

Being a philistine, cheap, and having compromised standards, i use 1:24, 1:18: 1:20 vehicles. Placement helps disguise the differences, and, not putting them side by side. I have vehicles for 20-40s US, as well as some for when i model german trains.

the problem is you just cant always find what you like in any given scale.

I put my 1/32nd stuff in the background, the 1/24th and 1/25th around the trains and stations, and the 2 slightly larger vehicles (unknown scale) in the foreground. The allegedly 1/24th Harley and the 1/18th Vespa look like they go with 1/24th and 1/25 cars. The early Bachmann figures look too large compared to Preiser and Woodland Scenics, so they get the proportional positional settings.

It's a good job you have a sense of proportion, you could get carried away.
