With a new Bachmann long caboose expected very soon(today I hope) I thought about some bigger stuff to run with that,1;20 locos and also the Accucraft caboose that I already have so I thought maybe I could experiment with a 1;22 boxcar and maybe upscale to something like,I do have a 1;22 boxcar with body mounted coupler one end to match with the larger scale locos and cabeese, my plan was to cut one up and just make it bigger,no way was that going to work after looking at the project. After a great deal of thought and almost giving up on the idea I thought about a shortie car using the chassis only and then a body of styrene sheet on top, worth a try and here is the result so far, styrene box with some details added such as Carter Brothers bolts that came from Bay 6 ages ago, bolts rivets from Cambrian models,so far up to first coat colour paint, metal wheels and some weight added and salvaged some bits from the donor car such as roof walks and grab irons,it seems to have worked quite well, will have to see what the finished item looks like but already thinking about the next one!;)IMG_20210314_232029.jpgIMG_20210315_001100.jpgIMG_20210315_001200.jpgIMG_20210315_033340.jpgIMG_20210315_033403.jpgIMG_20210315_034658.jpg

To be honest I have been sourcing my needs on line, though large sheets of plasticard would be post expensive.

The trouble is they don`t want to send paints and glue through the post, been into getting sheet and rod/strips by mail but no good if I can`t stick it together,I found a small amount of sticky stuff for my last project and the car shop was open for some black spray!

Had paint and glue sent via the post, including spray cans, no issues at all, maybe try a different supplier.

I seem to have some sort of production line going, the box car now lettered and numbered, flat car now done to the same stage although the brake wheel needs changing and tank car now ready for lettering, the tank car has really only had chassis mods being made wider and a stronger frame, loads of rivets(I like my rivets and bolts )and bolt head moldings and I used the boxcar roof to body fixing loops cut off and useful steps;),no construction pics as just simple styrene sheet as was the boxcar.New caboose needs lettering too.IMG_20210320_154828.jpgIMG_20210320_154810.jpgIMG_20210320_154903.jpgIMG_20210320_154917.jpgIMG_20210320_154937.jpgIMG_20210320_154954.jpg

Have had some spray etching primer sent to me by RS, but they used a carrier Herpes or someone. Perhaps it is PO that are a pain, I know they do not like batteries.

Today saw the lettering go on the tank car,I may add some more later but the plain look has gone at least,i just went on the net and picked a few cars out and adjusted mine to suit, lowering the car weight for example as a smaller car.As for OTIS OIL,one of our cats is the only one with his own oil company!!!!!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl:IMG_20210321_160811.jpgIMG_20210321_160831.jpg

Over the weekend saw the next one started,I managed to get some materials through the post and some glue at last.next car is a stock car and a Bachmann item has been cut down to bare bits and so to make a start, not sure where this one is going but to be honest when I start something I never do:giggle:.Still now to use some of the styrene sheet, strip and brass rod that turned up on Saturday.;)IMG_20210325_233008.jpg
