Evening all.
Does anyone have a copy of the above that they no longer need, as it appears to be unobtainable through the usual channels.
I will happily pay a reasonable amount for it.
Best wishes,
Trevor

I have a spare copy I do not require. Send me your address & I can put it in the post.
I warn you it is a very dangerous book. I have had 3 locos for repair from an owner if the book after "servicing" them.

Thanks very much Jimmy and dutchelm.
Andy has sorted me out. Thanks for the warning.
Best wishes,
Trevor

Let me guess……..
Over greasing/ oiling of the gearbox ?

No. Wheels out of quarter, bad electrical contacts, etc
How can anyone spend £20 on a book & be to tight to spend £5 on a cheap test meter

The same way that people buy £3000 squid on a live steam locomotive and will not invest a thirtieth of that to get a regular supply of the correct water.

Though I agree with the principle, if you never maintain your car e.g. change the engine oil and filter, replace the brake pads/shoes this they broke you would be in real trouble. A firm believer in preventative maintenance, but not maintenance for maintenance sake.

Don't mend, examine..

Only affect a repair if it is necessary. - So worn skates/brushes, cracked traction tyres, clean and minimal lubrication.

If you are cleaning lots of crud and grease, then the item has been over-lubricated..

A couple of things I took from this book was Chapter 8 squeaks and groans. I have lightly lubricated all bogie rubbing plates and bearings also axle bearings around every 2-3 years with LGB 50019 lubricating pencil. I have also fitted all rolling stock with M3 Nylon Washers supplied by Squires of Bognor to stop sideways slop. This can consist of up to 3 washers each side of the axle, but ensured a little bit of slop still remaining perhaps just less than a mm per axle. This gives I believe much better running as suggested by the book.

Agreed, which is why this:

Just remember the first rule of maintenance
If it ain't broke, don't mend it!

Is NOT the first rule of maintenance, but the fist rule of don't bodge it.

I will try to locate my copy which I think a printed one. If I have success, will make copy and send it to you. I also have the recommended maintenance practice issued by Märklin, if you are interested.

Hi Trebor. (Like the name!)
Many thanks for the offer, but as mentioned earlier, Andy has a spare copy which he is sending to me.
I do appreciate all the responses this request has generated.
Take care everyone.
Trevor

I was looking for this book a while ago. If anyone has one for sale but struggled to find any for sale - I'd certainly be interested if anyone want to sell it.

If you are a member of the FB group 'Garden Railway Trading', Andy Spencer a copy for sale for £12. He only put it on yesterday, so probably still available.

My copy is still available at the moment. If you are interested pm me.
