About to try extending my DCC abilities.
I've got four second hand motors and a DCC decoder coming to play with.
Just been reading the following message

I have used 1mm twin for long runs and a good quality speaker wire for short runs. Or you could buy LGBs own

I really will depend on the distances you run the cables.
Bell wire should do it for short runs or if you have a bit further to go then speaker cable might be a better option. if you have a really long way then you are up to mains size cables.
All it needs to be is twin core (I.E, two conductors) but you can even use two lengths of single core.

Thanks. The plan is firstly (since I'm new to this) to create something like John Allen's timesaver (http://www.wymann.info/ShuntingPuzzles/sw-timesaver.html) < Link To http://www.wymann.info/Sh...les/sw-timesaver.html) - on the work table on a temporary basis to understand how things work. I'm imagining this to be a fairly short run of cable. Anything longer will depend on what happens after that.

I use mains cable - 1.0mm light circuit wire.
50 metres for about £16 from your local electrical merchant.
Dont go to B&Q - well, you can but its twice as much.

Yep - me too. Twin core 3 amp mains (lighting) flex (not cable which is the grey, not very flexible stuff) is excellent and available very cheaply from Screwfix or other internet suppliers. If installing in the garden, do remember to get black flex, not white!
