WINDOWS MOVIEMAKER

Granitechops

Narrow Gauge 1/12th scale on 45mm</br>Quarrying &
I run 2 PCS, one to surf the net & one not connected to the net

I am still in the middle of editing video clips, so was trying to save time by editing on one, while burning to disc on the other.

however the moviemaker prog on one wont even read the project made on the other,

I was wondering if I could remove the prog, from one, and install a copy from the other in its place.
so
1
is it possible
&
2
how to do it?

anyone with the T shirt care to enlighten me?

no, the PCs were bought about 18 months apart

the versions are
2. 1. 4026. 0 This one wont read projects from

this one 2. 1. 4027.0

can I assume it should work the other way around, the later will read the earlier

It may do.
I suggest you check which is the current version on windows moviemaker website.
If all else fails download the latest version from there and try that.
There are also codecs and enhancements that can be added.

so can I down load the latest version one one machine
&
transfer the download to the other via a flash pen?

I just tried doing it the other way & it opens the project, BUT also the thumbnails are all bright RED crosses

I am working most of the video clips on the external hard drive, so looks like I will have to plug that in & out of the different PCs to preserve the links

download the latest version to your flashdrive.....install the new version on one machine where your project is from your flashdrive.......try your project out on this and make sure it works OK....if it does install a copy onto your other machine using your flashdrive............if that makes sense ?

Just thought, could I download the latest version of moviemaker onto the external hard drive,

that way I would be using the same prog

on second thoughts
NO
because I would want to be editing on one macine while burning to DVD on the other

hrrrmp

IT is entertaining aint it????!!!!!!!

the latest version 2.6 looks like its only for windows 7

I am running XP

according to the web site movie maker comes with service pack 2 ( & so cant find it on add/remove progs )

which is already installed

so can I download that again to my flash pen, I suspect it wont let me???

I am on XP service pack 3 with Movie Maker 2.6 version 5.1 and it works fine, can't comment on performance though

Automatic updates just offered me service pack 3

did I read it does not add a lot to performance??

SP3 has made some user get a performance increase of up 10-15% while other have not noticed much.
Worth installing either way in my opinion.
