Where Oh Where Shall I Go Next.....itinerary Of A Boxcar

Weird things obviously happened yesterday. John, I PM'd you but a copy didn't land in the out box; I then posted that fact on this thread but that seems not to have made it here today either although I saw it, temprorarily at least, after posting. As discussed on another thread, from Australia it looks like the forum collapsed shortly thereafter (just had a thought - could it have been me??? :-\) so I'm presently entirely unsure if anything got to you or if you think I was just ignoring you! If you haven't received a PM from me with my address, please let me know.

Steve

Great to hear that it is down our end of the world.

In South Australia, we have an open day at Penfield on 3rd August, an open day at my place on 4th October and the British Railway Modellers convention on 9th October. I would love to show it off at any or all of these events if possible.

If anyone wants details of these events, send me a PM.

Peter, we should be able to make that happen! I'm likely to be in WA in late Sep and Oct, but I would hope I would be able to get it to you before then.

Hi Steve - Yep got your PM, last few days have been, well lets just say they have been :( I hope to post it off on Saturday, I'll contact you again then ;)

Elvis has left the building ??? Oh opps wrong announcement The Round Robin Boxcar has left New Zealand :D It's on it's way to Austalia, so come on all you Aussie GSC'ers, time for you to have some fun.

Roger, will expect it in the near future. Other G Scalers in Oz who want to participate in addition to Peter, PM me.

Steve

I am not aware of the history of this boxcar and where it has been. Is there a link which gives some information? I tried the links in the early art of this thread but they don't appear to work any more.

Hi Peter,

The thread is "Round robin boxcar" and its a sticky in the G Scale Pictures board.

JR, One package received in good order and condition on Friday thank you; although I might need to invest in a new box before it departs the N&BR.....

Right, all you Aust based garden rail persons, besides Moonraker (Peter, I'll give you a call later this week) who wants the once in a life time chance of seeing this magnificient vehicle on their own right of way? PM me if you do - and I would note that the wide circulation and large number of lines on which it ran in the Shaky Isles has the potential to shame us in this country if we don't at least match it! Lose to NZ?-we'd better bowl under arm then (ducks, furtively grabs hat and coat and sidles out the door)

And he taught me geography ;)

;D Indeed, places like Lords, The Oval, Old Trafford, The Gabba, The G, Waca, Eden Park, Carisbrook, and of course, the most famous roundabout of all, the Basin Reserve.

The Round Robin Boxcar is scheduled to leave Adelaide on 14th October.

Is there anyone in Australia who wants it next?

Regards
Peter Lucas

If nobody else wants it in Australia then I think it's time for it to come home? It's been quite a few years and a lot of miles since I sent it off!!

Next weekend the boxcar will be appearing at the Great Southern Steamup in Emerald, Victoria.

It hasn't yet done Sydney or Melbourne so is it okay if it continues its Australian travels before returning to you?

The box car has just gained a kangaroo passenger and a new box (the old one was falling apart).

How about sending your address to pjlucas@bigpond.com so that I can fix it inside the box to ensure that you get it back?

Regards
Peter Lucas

of course it must continue while their's people want it! I was just going from your post about it leaving Adelaide and thought it had stalled........Sorry........

Hi all, anybody seen the boxcar lately? If it's stalled somewhere I think I'd like to get it back home for a bit then send it off to the UK again for the worley show

Happy Birthday Paul. :D

The exhibition manager of the Warley NEC show says he likes the idea. So it's fine at this end. The show isn't until 28th and 29th November so it doesn't need to be here until early November.
I would like to get some publicity for G scale in general and the forum in particular from this. I expect we will get a mention in the railway modeller.
I reckon a model wagon that has run on railways all over the world should be worthy of a mention in the national press.
