Where can I get miniature nuts and bolts?

ge_rik

British narrow gauge (esp. Southwold and W&LLR)
Country flag
A while back I bought a selection of nuts, bolts and washers in mixed sizes suitable for model making - but now I can't track down any suppliers. eBay just gives me a list of vehicle spares suppliers.

Anyone out there know where I can buy a mixed pack to restock my supplies?

Rik

So you mean tiny hex-headed for detailing, or ordinary 2mm upwards metric to hold things together?

Also try the aero modeller suppliers. they seem great at having tiny bits and bobs.

Or-www.modelfixings.co.uk. I have ordered from this company before and found them efficient-and cheap.

Right..
Maplin, Proops, Squires, Even Screwfix, RS, Farnell..
Google for the type of thing you are after plus your location.. You will probably find a local supplier, who will sell to you by the box of 200 (metric equivalent to a gross, 144).

Some really great links, thanks chaps, have bookmarked them all.

However ......... unless I've missed it not one one of them markets a mixed pack of nuts/bolts/screws. I know, I could make up my own mixed pack but I just wondered if any of them would save me that trouble??

May well be true but if you had a mixed bag before you could just top up the ones you've used up. Mixed sets are more unusual but should be traceable.

Think people should be aware that RS & Farnells and Rapid have a hefty postal charge
Yes, that was the drawback with Orbital - basic charge for p&p was £7.95 but I went with it for convenience and also because I think it would have cost more overall to buy 600 items in small packs elsewhere.

Two more for you to bookmark Rik.
Chronos: http://www.chronos.ltd.uk/ and
EKP Supplies: https://www.ekpsupplies.com/
EKP has a minimum order of £10, but they sell such useful bits and pieces it's not hard to make up a £10 order. That way you'll already have all the things you need in the future! Next day delivery and I am a very satisfied customer. Despite ordering on line I was able to add a couple of items I had forgotten by sending them an e-mail before the order was shipped. Excellent service!
Another useful source of odd bits and pieces is Cornwall Model Boats http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/
I ought to add a health warning to this one because of all the lovely things they sell. You could end up spending money on a new hobby if you're not careful!

I second the 'wallet warning' for Cornwall Model Boats..

Useful for pulleys, hooks, rigging/chains .. If into cranes, lots of useful bits with a bit of lateral thinking.
