Wheel ( tyre ) profiles...

My Bachmann trams still derail occasionally. I'm looking at the tyre profile....

I know if I reduced the flange depth my sharp radii could be better accommodated but I'm thinking that a better solution would be to look more closely at the back to back. I'm thinking that maybe a radius on the edge of the flange is going to help and also to taper (for want of a better word) the back of the flange so that the flange presents a more easily guided wheel. I don't want to reduce the height of the flange because my trackwork is not that good.....
I fiddled around with wheel profiles before on the AMS Cablecar. It had flat faces to the flanges and would sty on the track until a sharp bend was encountered, I tweaked the flanges and it now runs well, I'll copy what I did there, why reinvent the wheel?
