Worked in an office that had that horrible silver stuff on the windows, so glad when they removed it. Opening windows mor effective at keeping the room cooler. But you are following prototype practice.

Down here it is standard practice on a lot of buildings to keep cooling costs down.

On Monday I decided to turn the corner, literally and metaphorically, installing the 90 degree curve from board No 4 onto board No 5. The start of the curve is courtesy of a R3 point, the last part is also a R3 curve . In order to fit the curve on the boards, I had to use one and a half R2 curves in the centre. The R3 point on the far side of board No 5, straight ahead is the entrance to Goudes Sidings, the left curve is the continuation of the main line.

Not quite yet but certainly an option for me that has worries about Solar on the roof of a 1920’s property in a Conservation area. I like the possibility if possible of generating from even indoor lighting.

More progress on the Claptowte Railway, yesterday I finished the track laying on boards Nos 6 and 7, but yet to be wired. New wire now delivered. The long sidings on the right are ‘Goudes Sidings’.



Earlier in the week, I jumped ahead and laid the track on board No 8, the entrance to Phidell Yard, in order to make sure everything lined up with board 7, particularly the 90 degree curve. On the ‘scenic’ sides of the layout, Gernise End Station and Goudes Sidings, I have used R3 pints and curves. For Phidell Yard (the fiddle yard) I have used R1 in order to save space and have longer storage sidings. I suppose you could describe Phidell Yard as being semi-scenic as it will have its own signal box, water tower, yard office and coaling facilities. The fan of storage sidings will be fully open, with everything visible, as a means of displaying the stock.
