What happened at your workbench today?

Despite having a shiny new bandsaw, the box needs cutting by hand as it's too big to go through the machine . So it's out with a tenon saw, and use some of those skills that I took years developing...

After which, cut the thin ply lining, which will make the box sturdier and hold the lid in place, and then glue it in place. Lots of lovely clamps!

Finished off another 2 sets of points that will be used in a new scene inside the shed. The scene is planned to include a 3D printed double slip; I have 2 models to choose from so when I have printed and assembled them I'll see which one is the sturdier or if is doable.
Points files Bachmann compatible G gauge turnout by DrHoon

I also added bogies and couplers to some coal wagons that were built following the plans from the old garden railways magazine (when they came as a centrefold) by the father of a friend of mine.
The bogies and couplers were 3D printed using files from thingaverse

Very interesting what can be dine in 3D printing, how are the couplings centred on the hook is there a small spring inside?

Yes the spring is an integral [art of the coupler and is printed. They are a bit fragile but as these were printed in PLA the next lot will be in PETG which is a bit tougher.
I looked at the orientation of how I printed the coupler boxes and found if I stand them on their end the weakness that was present in side pieces is eliminated.
The file came with different style of coupler boxes as well.
