What happened at your workbench today?

You don't see many of these:

Well, not that have had this done to them, anyway:
IMG_20250427_135115.jpgReduced to 32mm gauge. Battery powered, but just single-speed, forward-off-reverse, it appears.
Top-heavy, as batteries in the boiler. Doesn't pull very well, and is slow..

The amount of oil everywhere, probably doesn't help?
But until I get further, I will not know more.

Yeah, so 32mm is more accurate for the loco, but there are ways of achieving things :think:

Not surprised it doesn't go very well, it's probably drowned in that oil, and what have they done to the axles?

Well I now know why that gauge-converted Bachmann 'Lyn' is so slow and under-powered..

Four Maplin AA NiMH rechargeable cells. - Nominal 4.8V.
Suppisedly, 2000mAh capacity, but seeing as the loco is designed for a lot higher upper voltage, I would surmise that at this voltage it will be quite current-hungry?

So, plan of action:
Replace batteries with something more substantial. - mounted in the tanks.
Then convert to BPRC, and take it from there..

How long have Maplin been gone? o_Oo_O

Nothing earth-shattering, but it makes my life a little easier..

DPDT centre-off switch..
Wired as a reversing switch, for those little 'electric mice' which people have.

The pcb takes care of the cross-wiring, and is so much quicker than manually wiring them up.

I always seem to get a request for these, hours before a show, when madly running around doing other things.

It begins. The bank building is in the middle of my high street and this shows it in its current sorry state after a decade of British weather; the other parts are just as bad. The plan is to make the street a little more curved once I've refurbished this section, which will require fiddling with the pavement and the addition of a new building to fill a gap. The oversized streetlamps will be replaced. I may be some time, as the whole model is about 130cm long and I don't have much space in the garage, since I share it with someone's precious MX-5.IMG_4879 (Medium).JPEG

Rather than an additional building, why not a tall fence and a sign on it reading "Plot with development potential for sale"?

Why not create a building plot with a tall fence with a sign on it saying "Plot with development potential for sale"?

I've already used that idea further down the road, where I couldn't be bothered to make something next to the garage :giggle:

I have a few projects on the go at the moment, first one is my take on Creative Mom work. A sort of Warehousy Grainy Malty Storey thingy. Made just out of old cardboard as the Mom does. Will not be a pretty thing but surprising how they come to life when painted.

Then there is the other side of the workshop where there ought to be a working 00 Railway but it is a resting house for unfinished projects like the Trainline Mallett which has stalled due to a likely Hall Sensir malfunction then the Water Tower that is waiting a good dose of weathering. The 00 has stalled due to clicking Cobolt Point Motors that were due to be replaced with Servos but that has not happened because I cant get the Megapoints Servo Board to work. Probably me!View attachment 263319
But at least the Glue and Paint stash is looking healthy.
