I added a 3 in one Mini Gas Soldering Torch obtained from Aldi on my shopping pain this Wednesday. Does Soldering, Air Blowing and Micro Flame. Should be very useful in the Garden for modest jobs where I cannot be faffed to bring out the Mains Iron.

I've been a bit naughty, following my eye op I am supposed to take things easy, no bending, no lifting, no straining. I have been sawing and splitting logs for I.P.Black, Coal Merchant of Gernise End on the Claptowte Railway.

You can probably kill some weeds with that while you're out there with it.

Superb paint job on the figure, David, especially the face - masterful work, though he does look like he's thinking of something slightly evil....!
The log pile looks pretty good too!

As none of my new Locos have vacuum brakes, I thought we should add some brakes to the Wagons, shame I made them all with pivoting bogies like LGB, or I could have added the brake shoes etc.

Dismantling and cleaning a new purchase of a very grubby used LGB 3013 2 axle dining car.

IMG_20200906_162656.jpg

It never fails to please me how easy these LGB wagons are to take apart and how well designed and made they are. Just four screws and 4 dabs of glue hold it all together. Should have got a design award.

It is all complete and came with metal wheels and lighting and box in excellent condition so good value for £60.
Having cleaned it up it looks as good as new except for a bit of letter H missing in BUNDESBAHNEN on one side.

I guess it is based loosely on this dining car on the Steyrtalbahn.

I.P.Black, Coal Merchant of Gernise End on the Claptowte Railway was in need of some extra storage bins to supplement the coal staithes. I set about building some with steel verticals with reinforced concrete slabs slotted in horizontally, or in the real world, 4.8mm square tube with 4.8mm plastic channel, the slabs being 3mm plasticard. The base, as with the coal staithes, is 3mm plywood. The concrete slabs have seen better days with some cracking, to the extent that in some places the reinforcing bars are exposed. One bay will be used for split logs, one for sacks ready for delivery and one for the storage of Calor Gas bottles.

Just shows how coppers are trained to observe - the accuracy of the details is top notch ('scuse the pun):clap: plus, I just don't have the patience to do that sort of thing :shake::shake::shake:

OK, we're getting there with the MLS sound in the C-19. You can just about make out the on /off switch for the sound card, but you can't see the infra-red 'eye' ;);)

I've yet to test whether the TV remote can see the infra-red eye :oops:

Work progresses on I.P.Black's storage bins, they have now been painted. The final stage will be to stock them up with split logs, coal sacks and Calor Gas bottles.
